2009 Dodge Viper ACR

The Dodge Viper ACR is one American muscle car you do not want to run into on the famed "ring" track in Germany.

The engine bay is full of 600 horses just waiting to be untapped and not to mention street legal racing tires for your drive to the track. Yes you can drive this car on public roads, it should be illegal though with the punishing amount of horsepower the Dodge Viper ACR has. Total track heads would opt for the Hardcore Package which deletes radio, speakers, amplifier, hood pad, and tire inflator. This would let the engine bay and tire squealing provide the symphony of destruction from the power under the hood.

Now just how does all this power stand up on stand up at the Ring? Check out its record setting time in the above video.

The ACR package adds just about $12,000 dollars over the $85,000 sticker price on the Dodge Viper.

New 700HP Mercedes Super Car

There have been rumors for quite some time of a McLaren/Mercedes-Benz split from building high-end road cars.In fact, after the ambitious but not-very-successful Mercedes SLR McLaren, shared plans for a smaller (and more affordable) super-sports model were abandoned.
Instead, Mercedes’ DTM partner—HWA—has been chosen to develop and build the baby SLR. This new SLC will be based on the next-generation SL (code-named R231, scheduled for 2011), a front/mid-engine car with rear-wheel drive, in contrast to earlier speculation of a smaller mid-engine Mercedes-McLaren. A show car is under construction and will be displayed at Geneva next spring.

Chevrolet Volt – the Plug-In Electric Car

Technically speaking, the car would be a hybrid. But unlike current models such as Toyota’s Prius, it would be propelled entirely by its electric motor, rather than alternating between electric and gas motors. This “series” hybrid design (as opposed to “parallel” technology) would give the Volt a range of about 960 kilometres if you were to drive on one battery charge and a single filling of its 45-litre gas tank. But since its batteries could be recharged between trips, the need to draw on its gasoline generator would be greatly reduced. Over the course of its life, the car would average about 60 kilometres a litre, depending on the length of trips between plug-in battery recharges - a level that would leave today’s gas-electric hybrids eating dust. Or, as Lutz put it at NAIAS, most Americans live within 30 kilometres of work; given the range of the Volt on its battery alone, “you might never burn a drop of gas.”
